近期，Emma Watson 在一次 podcast 中復出並談到 Rowling。她說：

“I would never cancel Rowling. People are not disposable. I’m grateful for what she created, even if we disagree.”

這段話再次引發話題。

• 英文學習重點

1. cancel (v.)
   cancel 除了我們常見的取消「會議」、「行程」，也可以用在 cancel (someone) = 停止支持某人，特別是因為他／她做了不被接受的事。
   中文常翻成「封殺、抵制」。
2. disposable (adj.) 可丟棄的、用完即丟的
   例如： disposable chopsticks 免洗筷、disposable mask 一次性口罩
   這裡Emma說： “people are not disposable” 想表達的是，人不是用完就丟的東西。
   即使立場不同，我們也不應該把人視為「可拋棄的」或「沒有價值的」。

原本以為這是大和解的內容，沒想到沒多久後，J.K Rowling 就在網路上回擊。表示：
“Like other people who’ve never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame,
Emma has so little experience of real life she’s ignorant of how ignorant she is…”

“Emma is rightly free to disagree with me … but I have the same right, and I’ve finally decided to exercise it.”

1. ignorant (adj.) 無知的、缺乏知識的
   這裡表達的是 Rowling 批評 Watson 對現實不理解，且不自知。
2. uncushioned (adj.) 沒有被保護的、缺乏緩衝的

• 來自 cushion (坐墊/緩衝物)，uncushioned 就是「沒有緩衝」，用來比喻缺少保護或優勢。

        → 隱喻 Watson 缺乏「現實世界的磨練」。

3. exercise one’s right (v.) 行使、使用（權利）

• 在法律、政治或社會語境裡，常用來表達「善用自己擁有的權利」。
• 這裡表達的是 👉 Rowling 承認 Watson 有自由不同意她，但她自己也有同樣的自由，並且決定行使這個權利。

• Rowling 強調「你能公開批評我，那我也能公開反擊」。
